To accelerate science with LSST, LSST-DA is providing quick turnaround, competitive awards of up to $25,000 USD to support workshops and/or hack days shortly following the 2026 release of LSST Data Preview 2. These awards are designed to support you to convene scientists, students, and/or developers around hands-on engagement with Rubin data while contributing reusable resources and/or lessons back to the broader Rubin ecosystem. Events should emphasize hands-on engagement with Rubin data and tools (e.g., the Rubin Science Platform and/or alert brokers) and must include some engagement with LINCC Frameworks resources.
The full Call for Proposals, with detailed instructions on eligibility, expectations for the proposal narrative and budget, and information about LINCC Frameworks tools is here. Please email Beth Willman (bwillman@lsst-da.org) if you have questions after reviewing the Call for Proposals.
Proposal PIs must be in an LSST Science Collaboration and/or at an LSST-DA member institution. Proposals are due on Friday July 10, 2026.
The LINCC Frameworks team at LSST Discovery Alliance (LSST-DA), Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), and University of Washington (UW) invites scientists to participate in upcoming cohorts of the LINCC Frameworks Incubator Program.
The goal of the Incubator Program is to engage the scientific community in the creation of software tools that support the community’s analysis of Rubin LSST data. To that end, we support teams of researchers to test, apply, or expand early-stage analysis software being developed as a part of LINCC Frameworks using their own exciting scientific investigations with existing surveys or simulated data.
Please see the full call for proposals, including eligibility requirements, for complete information.
The next deadline for submission is Monday, June 15, 2026, 11:59pm PT.

LSST Discovery Alliance provides grants to support the costs of childcare related to participation in Rubin LSST and IceCube conferences and meetings, thanks to the generous support of the Heising-Simons Foundation. These grants are intended to support the costs of essential childcare, above and beyond the ordinary expenses, that would be required to participate in a meeting. These grants are not typically intended to support costs related to bringing school-aged children to meetings.
Examples of scenarios that these flexible grants can cover include: (1) bringing dependent(s) to the meeting and hiring a local caregiver, (2) bringing dependent(s) and a caregiver to the meeting, or (3) hire extra caregiving assistance at home to cover time when you would be the primary caregiver. These grants cannot provide a spouse with pay to care for their child(ren).
Because these funds are paid as grants and not as reimbursements, they may be considered as taxable income, depending on your country's tax regulations.
We will do our best to accommodate all requests, depending on demand. Applications are considered on a rolling basis until the funding is fully allocated. Any scientist participating in a Rubin LSST or IceCube-related meeting is eligible for this program. You will hear a response to your request within 2-3 weeks of submission.
